Brentwood

Known for rolling hills and a reputation as one of the wealthiest cities in the country, Brentwood, TN lies just outside of Nashville. You can add yourself to the list of more than 40,000 people when you purchase real estate and call this city home.

History

The Mound Indians were the first inhabitants of record in the city. Early villages from these peoples have been located on Concord Road, in the Meadowlake subdivision, and at Primm Historic Park. It is thought that the Mound Indians disappeared from the area by 1300, but no one knows why.

Much of the city was destroyed in 1863 by Confederate soldiers. Land was sold when the war ended, and it was not until the 1930s that the city began to grow again. The city was incorporated in 1969 and has been growing since.

Parks and Recreation

The city has an incredible parks and recreation department. When you purchase one of the many properties available in the area, you have your choice of outdoor activities. There is more than 860 acres of green space throughout the town. Anyone who wishes can enjoy cultural, social, nature-oriented, or athletic activities without having to drive far.

There are also community groups in the area that provide activities for youth and adults. Be sure to visit Ravenswood Mansion and Cool Springs House with the family. Both historic homes offer a wonderful taste of the rich history of the area.

Attractions and Activities

Because properties in the city lie so close to Nashville, no resident is ever left wanting for something to do. If you would prefer to stay closer to home, you can visit Dyer Observatory, Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Center, Ellington Agricultural Center, or Radnor Lake.

Those who want to explore beyond the city’s borders should make it a point to head to Nashville. Home of the Grand Ole Opry, Dollywood and Busch Gardens, the city of Nashville has something to do for everyone in the family. Residents and tourists alike can easily find something different to do every day of the week.

When you are looking for a special event in the city, you do not have to look far. You can take part in Stitching for Charity, Saturday Story Time, or even visit a farmers’ market. The local library holds various classes for youth and adults, and anyone interested can take a pilates held at the same library.
